This special showcase will present the most innovative cross-media documentary productions which are
now using the online, mobile and gaming dimensions as live experiences for documentary making.
From viewers’ engagement to interactive participation, this session will discuss how the cross-media is
putting the audience at the core of the narrative of the documentary itself, changing all conventional
models in storytelling.
Experts will close the discussion debating on related innovative business models.

Cairo, Egypt (MAARIFA WORKSHOP)
Monday 20 APRIL

Canal France Internation has just launched the Maarifa project (“knowledge” in Arabic), with a presentation for members of the Asian States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) attending their AGM. This ambitious project, which consists in developing educational multimedia programmes with partners from Mediterranean region, will be deployed over two years, with support from the ASBU and France 5. At least 20 skills transfer workshops, interspersed with plenary meetings, will be organised at the selected TV channels. The next major date for Maarifa : March 2010 for a meeting in Cairo to get an overview of educational TV in Europe and the Mediterranean region.

Lucerne, Swizterland (EBU Eurovision TV Summit)

The Eurovision TV Summit has become the world’s leading event for Public Service Media providing unique opportunities for networking and inspiring informative meetings and conferences.
Now in its fourth edition, the Summit is the reference amongst public service broadcasters as the event “not be missed”. The Summit in 2009 proved to be an overwhelming success with attendance figures 25% up on the previous year making a total of nearly 700 decision-makers and contributors to European public service TV present despite the financial downturn.
Spanning the whole week, the Summit features specialized expert and programme meetings and conferences.
