Canal France International has just launched the Maarifa project (“knowledge” in Arabic), with a presentation for members of the Asian States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) attending their AGM. This ambitious project, which consists in developing educational multimedia programmes with partners from Mediterranean region, will be deployed over two years, with support from the ASBU and France 5. At least 20 skills transfer workshops, interspersed with plenary meetings, will be organised at the selected TV channels.</p>

The International Documentary Festival in Amsterdam (IDFA) is hosting every year two major events:<br />
- <a href="http://www.idfa.nl/industry/markets-funding/the_forum.aspx">The FORUM</a>, the international co-financing market for documentaries and Europe&#8217;s largest gathering of filmmakers, television commissioning editors, and independent documentary producers. We will be &#8220;pitching&#8221; there our project <a href="http://www.honkytonk.fr/index.php/portfolio/boomtown-babylon/">Boomtown Babylon</a> to fellow professionals.<br />
- <a href="http://www.doclab.org/">DocLaB</a>, a special festival happening during IDFA. It was created to present films, web documentaries, and installations that innovate the documentary genre. Projects are showcased in the Doc Lab Media Lounge and in cinemas during a number of special Live Screenings and events. We will be presenting our latest webdocumentary iROCK <a href="http://www.doclab.org/2010/irock/">as part of the official selection during The Web Rocks, a live showcase of online and interactive music documentaries</a> of this cutting-edge festival on Tuesday 23rd.</p>

The next major date for Maarifa : March 2010 for a meeting in Cairo to get an overview of educational TV in Europe and the Mediterranean region.<br />

Friday 23 APRIL</strong><br />
The Eurovision TV Summit has become the world’s leading event for Public Service Media providing unique opportunities for networking and inspiring informative meetings and conferences.<br />
Now in its fourth edition, the Summit is the reference amongst public service broadcasters as the event “not be missed”. The Summit in 2009 proved to be an overwhelming success with attendance figures 25% up on the previous year making a total of nearly 700 decision-makers and contributors to European public service TV present despite the financial downturn.<br />
Spanning the whole week, the Summit features specialized expert and programme meetings  and conferences.</p>

<p>This week, we will be presenting two projects at Sunny Side of the Doc, the documentary market which is held in La Rochelle.</p>
<p>First of, we will be presenting a first rough cut of THE BIG ISSUE, our new web documentary on the obesity epidemic including :</p>

- a presentation on Wednesday 24 June 2009 at 10:30 am and 6:30 am in Agora</p>
<p>Then, our new project on the Yasuni initiative, which is still in development for Canal +, will be pitched at Sunny Side BIPS environmental session on Wednesday at 11:30 am.</p>
